Guest house insurance news - Cover covers compensation deal
A guest house in Wales has had to pay out compensation to a woman who suffered a broken and dislocated ankle as a result of slipping on a paving stone outside the establishment; its guest house insurance company has agreed to settle the claim.
In fact, the legal team representing the injured woman discovered that only two months before another guest had slipped on the very same paving stone and, despite not suffering serious injury, raised his concern about the safety of the area.
Immediately after the accident, the claimant was rushed to hospital where she received prompt treatment on her broken ankle, including insertion of a metal pin into the affected area.
It is understood that the claimant, a 43-year-old from London was initially reluctant to claim but, after being reassured by family and friends that it was her right, decided to proceed with legal action in the knowledge that it would be a guest house insurance company and not the bed and breakfast's owners that would fund the public liability settlement.
The compensation deal, the details of which remain undisclosed, was negotiated out-of-court between the guest house insurance company and the woman's legal team.
